I went to see Bruins @ Rangers in game 4 of their conference semi.
What a great game! Two soft goals allowed the Rangers to get back in the game...
Am I the only one in my family who considers cereal a viable option for dinner?
Today’s trail run, an 8 mile single track leading to a giant rock formation. I love Idaho :)
Grandeur Peak - 8299’
Coworker: Your legs are going to be dead. It’s a tough hike. Really steep.
Me: Oh, my legs are already dead from...
and since I still consider some of you my friends, I can spill it here.
I’m gonna be an aunt, you...
My daily attempt at looking nice for work. Another dress! I think it will be a dress week…
Also today feels like Wednesday which is really disappointing since its Tuesday. I haven’t run since Thursday. Am attempting to run tonight for the Jack Quinn’s 5k. If any pain I will stop, if not I’ll try to keep it easy.
@mrstrivialbob: Well, what a coincidence!
The little girl next door came by to check on my bike tires to make sure they were still good, and I ended up with her giving me an old biking jersey of hers and a pair of those suspender bike short-suit things! And they have padding! So perfect! I’m excited! :)
Am I cyclist yet? Holy crap.
Went cycling for just over 30 minutes, went about 5.5 miles. My neighbor fixed the bike, it’s not the best bike and only has two gears, but it’s better than nothing. And everywhere around my house there are hills. On the way back to my house, there’s these two HUGE hills. But I didn’t get off my bike! My legs were shaking when I was almost to the top but I didn’t give up.
My neighbor says if I like biking and want to keep going after trying with this bike, he’ll give me his wife’s old bike so I can have something else to ride. They said they’ll turn me into a bike addict yet! All I need now is a helmet and better bike shorts and I’ll be set! Glad I have something else to do! :)
So my sister took me shopping today to make up for not buying me anything for my birthday, I ended up choosing the dress with the black and white stripes. Yay dresses!
Yes, I work in a call center so headset. The real reason for this picture: free shirt! They have all these old race shirts and you get one after your 8th run with the group.
The one I got is from the Ascent, obviously, and it’s a tech long sleeve shirt, and it appears to be men’s size, and it’s a large. Like, large large it literally goes past my running shorts. But I will make use of it… when I run the ascent because I feel like a fraud wearing this but it’s cold in my office.
I love free stuff that I earn through running!
I think it’s just the lighting, but my face seems thinner. I dunno.
Anyway. Ran two miles today. My calves have been so sore. I was
Really good the first mile but then the second mile my calves were like “kill me now!” So who knows what’s going on there. Did it in 24:45.
Gonna start to try to go to bed significantly earlier than I normally do. Like, in bed lights out by ten. I have to run at 6 but have everything prepped for work and workouts before I go. This is gonna be hard but so nice.
10 miles. 3 and a half hours.
It was my first time running with this new running club. They are super hardcore. I couldn’t keep up with them so I just took the trail I knew we were supposed to take.
Unfortunately, no one was anywhere near me the whole time and I had to figure out this new trail by myself. It was really hard. Mostly uphill. Really confusing. I got lost. I think I got close to where I was supposed to go (it’s supposed to connect to the trail on Pikes Peak), but not quite.
I didn’t mean to do ten miles but that’s how it worked out. Was still a good “run” regardless.
Also, parts of the trail smelled like Christmas (i.e. Christmas trees).
Edit: also, I THINK that barren landscape view picture of the mountains, the third one, is of the Waldo Canyon fire area. I never saw it before the fire and I’ve only seen it on fire, as sad as it is to say.
This run was AH-mazing. My running group had a “dress rehearsal” run for the race, this one woman named Judy came from Boulder to do it and we ran together, started with 2 minute run 30 second walk intervals, but at the halfway point we switched to 1:1 and it was MUCH better. And I still did it faster than my past attempts! And I even did this “naked” (sans headphones)!
I think I’m going to stay with 1:1 intervals for everything…it was nice and my feet didn’t hurt or fall asleep during them!
All “dressed up”, also known as wearing makeup, for my hot date with my ten year old nephew as my gift for his birthday. All he asked for was to go on a one on one dinner. He’s so adorable.
My face post-run this morning.
Ran in the rain. Just can’t get a break on the weather on these early morning runs! I was the only girl in our group that went. It was great though! And one of the slower guys stayed back with me and we ran the 5 together. It was fun! Did it in 1:04. Less than a 13 minute mile!! And I did big hills!
Did the Garden of the Gods 10 Miler course again today. Took off 5 minutes from my last attempt. It was cooler, so it didn’t suck so bad.
It’s slowly getting easier but it’s still hard as hell.
Side note: my blisters on my feet from this run suck. They’re just on the inside of my heels, and with my switch of shoes for today’s run I got a blister over a callus and it hurt. Boo make my shoes stop giving me blisters!
This run was amazing today. I don’t know what did it, but something just made everything feel great.
Every time I was getting ready to feel slowed down and walk where I normally would walk, I just kept going. My legs weren’t giving up. I ran almost the entire time. And with those hills, that’s normally just near impossible for me.
I’m thinking maybe it was the shoes, I used my Brooks instead of my Montrails, or maybe, just MAYBE, I’m getting better and stronger??
9 more miles in the books.
Fuck the heat. I think the my not having had a rest day since Monday and switching to paleo in addition to the heat just made this run mentally miserable. It was way too hot to even think straight.
Or wear a shirt, for that matter.
Fun incident that happened with my running in a sports bra: I was running up a hill and this tour of people were watching me go up the hill, when all of a sudden one of my bra straps (they’re velcro straps) just unvelcroed it self and they almost saw my boob. I caught it in time but holy crap it was like being in the pool and someone pulling the string on your top only it happened without being able to hide in water. Embarrassing but a little funny.
