Go Becky Go

I'm Becky, 23 year old Florida native living in Colorado. Marathon runner trying to get back into running, I also do capoeira on occasion and like to go on adventures sometimes. I'm a certified EMT (but still trying to get a job as one). I like to lift, and am currently working on "getting back on the wagon" for weight loss. I originally started this blog and lost 25 pounds and kept it off for a long time, then life happened and I'm up higher than my original starting weight.. I am pretty ambitious and am signed up for some races this year to boost my motivation, including a half that goes up a 14er, and a 50k in the mountains.

This is not a weight loss blog, it's my blog and I talk about whatever I want including weight loss and food and boys and running and drinking and lots of pictures of myself. I have little to no filter when it comes to the things I say, I am kinda opinionated, so sometimes I'm awkward, but I'm pretty awesome.

Gun show Thursday!

Lifting session #2 of the week done! Gonna run later, off to the dentist to see what damage I’ve caused to my teeth since the last time I saw one (which was like, at least two years ago o.O)!

Wish me luck!

It’s a little late, but belated gun show Thursday? I lifted today before I went running!

Practically no definition, and my arms have gotten quite a bit bigger fat-wise since my last attempt. But gotta (re)start somewhere, right?

A meager last minute attempt at gun show Thursday. I’ve missed it. Hopefully will see improvements soon!

So I randomly decided to try P90X today.

My sister and brother in law started doing it so I decided “Meh, why not?”

My only problem with it is that all I have is resistance bands and not real weights (I have 3 pounders that I got years ago that I never actually used). I used the band with the most resistance and it still wasn’t enough, I felt like I was making it so tight trying to make it harder that it was going to snap in my face.

I did the Chest and Back video, not bad. I like all the pushups, particularly because a lot of them are already part of my workout repertoire that I’m working on. I did all the pushups modified, but it’s all good.

I also got lucky that I had a thing for the resistance bands to do the pull-ups. I had no idea I owned it, I got it when I tried this other fad exercise thing 6 week body makeover.

My only thing that I didn’t like about the video was all the ballistic stretching, it can be dangerous especially doing it at the beginning of the workout. I’m going to try and stick with it for a week and see how it goes.

Side note: I miss the muscle definition on my arms. I want them back.

Gun show Thursday!

It’s not much considering my arms are like, never worked out anymore, but I’m okay, today’s upper body workout was intense.

My notebook with my workout feels heavy!

Also, weight today: 153.8. Down a pound, so at least that’s good, right?

Gun show Thursday! First time in awhile that I’ve actually done it on a Thursday. Anyway, hoping to get these guns back into proper shape soon!

So, I worked out with a boy today.

We went on a 3 mile run by his house, had some Jimmy John’s, then went to the gym to lift.

We may or may not be hanging out again later.

Also here’s gun show Thursday: “Bad angle and I have lost definition” edition.

This is awfully exciting! I’m starting to look muscular! I don’t understand how some people don’t like/see the benefits of weightlifting. Seriously.

I also love the fact that I have already worked out today. Been up since 5am!

Warmup:

30 jumping jacks

30 high knees

15 squats

5 laps around the track 3:11 (5/13 mile)

Weights:

Bench Press: 8-7-3 @ 65-70-75 lbs

Pushups: 3x8

Pullups: 3x6 (practice unassisted)

Dips (assisted): 7-5-5 @ 6-5-5 assistance

Dumbbell Flyes: 8-6-6 @ 20-22.5-22.5 lbs

Tricep overhead press: 8-6-6 @ 20-22.5-22.5 lbs

Tricep kickback: 3x6 @ 15 lbs

Cool down:

3 laps: 1:57 (3/13 mile)

Yay productivity!

It’s amazing how quickly muscle definition fades. But it’s also amazing how quick it can come back! :) sure its not Thursday, but it’s upper body day for me!

Not looking super pretty or anything, but woo gun show thursday!

Feeling all kinds of beast today. I can’t get over the fact that my arms, well, actually, that my body, looks like this.

Gun Show Thursday

I’m just so excited. I might weigh MAYBE 2 pounds less than I did from the first picture.

February 3rd:

August 24th!!

So freaking excited. Gun show Thursday gotta love it.

But I was lazy all day and didn’t take it til now.

Compared to last Gun Show Thursday that I took part in on February 3rd, though there isn’t really a difference.

So uh.. yeah. I wanna join the bandwagon!

If you squint you can kinda see the definition! It’s better if you feel for yourself in person. I’d probably make you. Absolutely awesome.
